The Shenandoah Fillies tennis team capped off an exceptional season with a 12-2 overall dual record and several standout achievements. Gabi Jacobs highlighted the season by earning a 3rd-place finish at the IGHSAU State Individual Tournament. Meanwhile, the doubles duo of Jaylan Gray and Lyla Mather represented the Fillies at the State Doubles Tournament.
The team’s success carried into postseason play as they qualified for the team state tournament, advancing to the quarterfinals. Elementary Principal Jordan Newberg and Middle School Principal Luke Buttry would like to congratulate our September Students of the Month here at the Shenandoah Elementary and Middle School. Students earn "The Mustang Way" cards for being respectful, responsible, and being safe throughout the month from teachers and staff. In the elementary, those cards are then used to select the winners for each month. In middle school, students are nominated and chosen by their teachers. Elementary and middle school art students created a dot day installation in the K8 cafeteria to celebrate dot day on September 15th.
"International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009. The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe."
Students read, "The Dot," by Peter H. Reynolds during class before pairing up middle school students with elementary students for studio time. Students worked together to "make their mark" by making mixed media dots, dot mobiles, watercolor dots, yarn dots, and more! Middle school students worked hard to install hundreds of decorated dots throughout the school.
Shenandoah is Innovative, Impactful, Supportive, Tailor-made and Like Nowhere Else!
